The Stanislaus Council of Governments (StanCOG) is seeking a PRINCIPAL TRANSPORTATION PLANNER to join its management team and be a part of leading the transportation planning process in the Stanislaus region of northern California where StanCOG serves as the federally-designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), the state-designated Regional Transportation Planning Agency (RTPA), and the Local Transportation Authority (LTA).
This exciting career opportunity is a leadership and supervisory position within the professional Planner series. The successful candidate will manage local long-range transportation planning activities for the Stanislaus region; supervise professional and technical planning staff to ensure that section programs and projects are effectively managed and successfully completed; work with local jurisdictions on project delivery and the local transportation measure; grant management; and serve as an integral part of the executive management team.
The ideal candidate will have six or more years of transportation planning experience that includes at least one year of supervisory experience, a Bachelor's degree in regional, urban or transportation planning, community development, public policy or a related field from an accredited college or university, possess leadership and supervisory abilities, exceptional public speaking and presentation skills, write effective professional reports, and enjoy collaborating in a fast-paced team environment.
