GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: The principal purposes of this position are providing support to staff regarding financial aid questions, completing financial aid files, and supporting one or more of the financial aid processes. This position requires a high degree of independent judgment, initiative, organization, and problem-solving skills with the assigned functions. Customer service is a paramount attribute for this position, requiring the person to be positive and helpful under the pressure of deadlines.

Maintains current knowledge and information of Financial Aid regulations and guidelines.
Provide support for Student Support Specialists with high level financial aid questions.
Advises and assists applicants, students, and parents regarding high level financial aid topics. May assist with other financial aid questions as needed.
Assigns correct budgets, completes financial aid files and awards financial aid.
Must be able to complete detailed reports as required by the Federal and State Government.
Maintain working knowledge of degree audits to determine if a student is making satisfactory progress and advises students on requirements.

State Awarding and Reporting
Default Management Program
Direct Loan and Pell Reconciliation
Periodically reviews processing procedures to determine their effectiveness and efficiency.
Gives financial aid presentations to various groups and organizations as required.
Performs other related work duties as assigned.

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
One to three years of experience in financial aid, advising, counseling, or related experience strongly preferred.
Proven aptitude in accounting/bookkeeping procedures required.
Must have experience using computer database and word processing.
