We are currently seeking a Program Coordinator for the Newark Screening department to work in collaboration with the Program Manager and the Director of Acute Emergency Services. Responsible for providing supervision to multi-disciplinary staff and ensure compliance with all regulations.
Supervises staff on a daily basis for assigned shift, providing administrative and clinical direction.
Monitors staff performance and addresses any issues or concerns.
Assumes direct care responsibilities for consumers/patients and provides individual, group, family supportive counseling, crisis intervention, psycho-education, and case management services.
Maintains appropriate consumer/patient records; monitors staff compliance with all documentation requirements.
Prepares and maintains oversight of clinical records for audits.
Identifies system problems and communicates suggestions to resolve issues and improve quality of services.
Represents the department in the community and speaks before groups on matters related to assignment.
Regularly attends and participates in in-service meetings and other designated training events that will enhance clinical skills and maintain best practices; delivers training to staff.
Participates in external meetings and UBHC-wide meetings, committees, and task forces as assigned.
Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the mental health field; maintains certifications/licensures and/or memberships in appropriate professional bodies.
Meets all annual requirements and understands and adheres to Rutgers compliance standards.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's degree in a related mental health field and four (4) years of post-graduate experience in related community mental health and/or case management work. Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work. Licensure to practice as required by New Jersey state laws governing the discipline.
Eligibility for certification as a Psychiatric Screener in the State of New Jersey.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrates effective problem solving and organizational skills.
Ability to promote effective working relationships within the Newark Screening unit team and intra-departmentally to facilitate the unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
Demonstrates positive communication skills both verbal and written.
Valid driver's license for use in community settings.
