This is a full-time, CWA position, in the “NE” category of employment and hours of work and days are determined by the supervisor. Note: Employees serving in job titles assigned specific workweek limits of 35 or 40 hours are entitled to be compensated for approved time worked in excess of their normal workweek at the rate of time and one-half. For those with Monday through Friday schedules, this means a Saturday, Sunday or Holiday.

As part of the Business Services team, this person will provide professional and technical functions using policies, procedures, precedents and guidelines as established for the accounting area in the Office of Business Services. Performs a variety of accounting and reconciliation functions, as well as administrative tasks and ensures all deadlines are met.
Assist in preparation of various internal and external reporting, perform various accounting duties which may include work in fixed assets, debt, bank reconciliations, student accounts, food services, transfers and other areas as needed
Reconcile Banner General Ledger System with Sub-ledger systems on a monthly basis
Prepare and Post Weekly/Monthly Journal Entries
Perform account analysis, reconciliations, data compilation, and report compilation
Develop, review and maintain process documentation.
Update training programs presented to campus departments
Assist with audit questions and requests
Assist with month-end, fiscal year-end accounting tasks and other duties as assigned
Establish liaisons and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff or areas whose functions impact on assigned responsibilities
Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and resolve issues and concerns.
Support Risk Manager with a variety of tasks related to claims filing and administration of insurance policies.
Manage inventory of office supplies and conduct purchasing for office.
Processes requisitions for approval. Files copies of purchase orders and match invoices to purchase orders for approval.
Assist the Office of student accounts with entry of payments and verify bank deposits during peak periods. Return phone calls during heavy call volume periods
Report and record the expenses for employee cell phone reimbursements by extracting data from a payroll report for conversion to a file that can uploaded into Banner Finance.
May be required to learn to utilize the SAGE system used by Business Services to manage capital assets
Prepare correspondence to Bureau of Risk Management regarding deletions and additions to college’s fleet policy
Support Controller with administrative and clerical office functions
Perform other duties as deemed necessary
Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree.
Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience on a year for year basis
Minimum of two (2) years experience in accounting or financial area
Experience in an institution of higher education is preferred.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, TRAINING
Experience with account analysis, reconciliations, data compilation, and report preparation
Intermediate level or higher Excel skills
Experience responding to audit questions/requests
Experience with and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and governmental accounting standard pronouncements
Banner financial system experience preferred
