Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4)
Salary: $70,000 plus, based on experience and qualifications
The Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development has been recognized globally as an Exemplary Career Center for providing comprehensive career services to undergraduate and graduate students of Binghamton University, including career identification and planning, internship options, job search assistance, employer treks, internship and employment opportunities, and comprehensive graduation data. The Fleishman Center seeks a Senior Associate Director, Engagement and Operations to support and initiate outreach and development efforts focused on employers with full-time employment and internship opportunities and to oversee the Fleishman Center operations.
The Senior Associate Director, Engagement and Operations should subscribe to core values of campus collaboration, high ethical standards and dedication to what is best for students, employers and Binghamton University. The position requires a sensitivity and ability to understand diverse student needs and concerns. The position must demonstrate leadership, administrative management, strong supervision, team orientation, productive work ethic, positive attitude and knowledge of the world of work, employment trends, best practices for college recruiting/employer services and job search strategies. In addition, strong advising and interpersonal skills, a high level of professionalism and enthusiasm for customer satisfaction are a must.
Job Responsibilities: Lead Engagement and Operations Team of 4-5 full-time employees and responsible for the following:
Ensure Binghamton University is a leading university for job and internship recruiting activity and set national standards for innovative excellence through relationship development, program improvement, active outreach to alumni and employers, and creative programming, leading to increased opportunities for Binghamton students
Develop and execute a proactive employer engagement and recruiting strategy to attract a diverse array of top companies to recruit Binghamton University students
Initiate, build and manage strategic relationships with employers, alumni, and families, both globally and locally, and from a wide range of industries
Create, implement, and assess new, comprehensive employer outreach campaigns, collaborating with Career Cluster teams
Develop and implement strategic plan priorities for building and facilitating connections leading to recruitment of Binghamton University students; assess and refine the plan as needed
Collaborate with campus partners on employer outreach, and identify means to connect employers' full-time and internship opportunities to other offices and academic departments across the institution
Liaise with Alumni Relations, especially with collaborative programming efforts to assist in the development of professional development and mentoring opportunities for Binghamton students
Lead sponsorship initiatives, including Fleishman Center sponsorships and advertising, as well as collaboration with university advancement staff to develop new sponsorship opportunities
Deliver agreed upon sponsorship package components on behalf of the department
Oversee outreach for student employment and part-time off campus job opportunities
Liaise with external partners such as The Agency, Broome and Tioga County Workforce Taskforce, and Binghamton Chamber of Commerce
Provide vision and direction for all employer-directed marketing and communication efforts, including print publications, website, and social media
Oversee Operation Team focusing on strategic implementation of assessment of employer/alumni/student programming, policies and procedures, and the use of data analysis to improve programs/services and support a departmental data-driven culture
Provide operational direction and support for a robust schedule of career services program and events
Lead exploration of technology and systems to maintain employer contacts, information, and follow-up; investigate recruiting software options and any needed implementation
Maintain system for capturing information for alumni, event attendees, employers etc. and ensure alumni engagement is captured in the alumni office database
Work collaboratively as a team member with Center staff supporting all functional areas as needed, including training, orientation, staff meetings, strategic planning, and staff development programs and committees
Serve on two career cluster teams and collaborate with team members on programs, information, and resources that educate students about career cluster industries
Represent the Center and the University to educate parents, prospective students, incoming students and others within the University community through presentations, panel workshops, and assistance with publications, and web content for employers and job seekers on a variety of career-related topics
Communicate key outcomes of outreach and implementation of programs with other staff, faculty, Deans and select student groups
Integrate the NACE professional standards and best practices for Career Centers and ensure the Fleishman team is on the cutting edge
Master's degree in college student personnel, educational administration, business or related field
Minimum of seven years of relevant professional work experience
Career services or recruiting experience
Evidence of commitment to student success and desire to help others
Strong interpersonal communications skills in person and through other modes of communication
Ability to be a self-starter, multitask, meet deadlines and work successfully in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with technology
Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work both independently and within a team
Travel required to develop relationships with employer and alumni, attending conferences and training programs, employer treks, etc.
Familiarity with NACE professional standards, standard hiring processes, upstate NY employers and national job market
Knowledge of current national job market and NY state employer needs
