The Coordinator for Intercultural Student Support will report directly to the Chief Diversity Officer & Title IX Coordinator and be part of a team that comprises the Center for Intercultural Unity. The successful candidate will be working directly with underrepresented students, and must have knowledge and experience supporting populations that include, but are not limited to students of color, LGBTQ+, veterans, international students and students of a variety of faiths. This position will be responsible for planning, executing and assessing programs from the Unity Center as well as campus and community wide events geared at providing awareness, education and socialization for underrepresented students, and the college community. They will co-chair our Cultural Life Committee, assist with advising clubs such as Rainbow Union and STAR (the campuses LGBTQ+ student groups), oversee the programming and support for our Gender Inclusive Housing, serve on the Veteran's Advisory committee, act as a liaison for the office on various committees and office department meetings, and serve to represent the Center for Intercultural Unity at college events related to recruitment such as open house, orientation and Experience Alfred visits. This individual will also be responsible for working with the Coordinator for International Education by providing student support for international students that includes coordinating transportation to government offices, airport, DMV, club sponsored trips. This position will also assist with interfaith programming as well as being a liaison to our Accessibility Services office. They will assist the department with student and professional training that includes professional development week, residential life staff training, new student training and classroom push in via the Don't Cancel that Class initiative. This position will also be trained to take Title IX and bias related reports from students. The successful candidate must be adaptable and willing to work flexible hours, which will occasionally require nights and weekends.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Demonstrated experience working with underrepresented students
Experience working on a college campus
A valid New York State drivers license
Safe Zone Certified
Knowledge of Title IV and IX and other policies and laws pertaining to underrepresented students and higher education
