About Chief Andrew Issac Health Center - Tanana Chiefs Conference
Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center (CAIHC) is a culturally sophisticated, state-of-the-art tribal healthcare “Super Clinic” designed in response to specific environmental conditions, its neighborhood context and a balanced set of operational and cultural drivers.
The Fairbanks-based clinic serves Alaskan Native people from 42 villages situated along the Tanana and Yukon rivers within a 235,000 square-mile region of Alaska; this area comprises the Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC) www.tananachiefs.org , an Alaska Native non-profit corporation and regional member of the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. CAIHC provides multigenerational healthcare and weaves natural environment, modern healing and community building into a place where cultures come to gather.
The most innovative aspect of the clinic's design is its approach to caring for patients and families through an integrated-care model that emphasizes wellness over intervention and focuses on family-centered lifestyle changes. In this Patient-Centered Medical Home model, a highly-collaborative team of providers works together in an open space. Such teams — made up of doctors, nurses, medical assistants and special...ists — care for entire families. The team learns about a family’s medical and non-medical issues, which ensures comprehensive prenatal to end-of-life care and support on the patient’s journey to optimal wellness. Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Women's Health (OBGYN & CNM), General Surgery, Psychiatry, Orthopedic PA, Radiology, Dentistry, Optometry, Lab, and Pharmacy are all services at the health center.
Who We Are
We are organized as Dena’ Nena’ Henash or “Our Land Speaks”; an Alaska Native non-profit corporation, charged with advancing Tribal self-determination and enhancing regional Native unity. We work toward meeting the health and social service needs of Tribal members and beneficiaries throughout our region.
Healthy, Strong, Unified Tribes
Tanana Chiefs Conference provides a unified voice in advancing sovereign tribal governments through the promotion of physical and mental wellness, education, socioeconomic development, and culture of the Interior Alaska Native people.
