Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Clinician III for the Child & Adolescent Services – South Brunswick School Based Program at Rutgers, University Behavioral Health Care.
The Mental Health Clinician III assists in providing comprehensive mental health care and related services to children and adolescents in schools. Participates as a member of a unit team in providing patient care services. Assists in the development of treatment plans, including appropriate referral. Demonstrates competency in assessing and treating children and adolescents (ages 13 – 18 years).
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Provides individual, group, and family psychotherapy as clinically indicated to assigned clients, including children and adolescents (ages 13 – 18 years).
Conducts accurate assessments and involves students and/or family in developing achievable and understandable clinical treatment plans.
Effectively contributes to and supports an environment that enhances the positive self-image of clients and preserves their human dignity, as observed by supervisor.
Maintains effective, open communication with treatment team members to provide appropriate treatment for clients to ensure quality care as indicated by feedback from team members and supervisory observation.
Advocates for appropriate resources for clients and families based on assessed needs.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in Mental Health discipline.
Licensure to practice as required by New Jersey state laws governing the discipline.
Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience in recognizing the unique needs and behavior of adolescents (ages 13 – 18 years).
Position requires flexible scheduling including one evening per week.
Must undergo a fingerprint background check at candidate's expense, as required by NJ State Law.
