The School of Arts and Sciences at Alfred State College invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Global and Diversity Studies. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position with some course coordination and assessment responsibilities. This faculty position will be placed in either the English and Humanities or Social and Behavioral Studies depending on the academic area of the faculty member.
Primary duties include teaching sections of an interdisciplinary gateway global studies course, Global Perspectives, to majors across the College and modules with similar content to students at the School of Applied Technology. In compliance with the Middle States requirements on undergraduate education and the State University of New York undergraduate general education requirements, the course and modules will engages students with content on values, ethics, and diverse perspectives as well as cultural and global awareness and cultural sensitivity. This course also serves as an introduction to the general education curricula.
This faculty member will work with the Chair of the English and Humanities department and the Chair of the Social and Behavioral Sciences department to coordinate the global studies course, including course scheduling, staffing class sections, and assessing and reporting the Other World Civilization?SUNY General Education requirement assessment.
Minimum Requirements: Applicants must have a Master's degree in a humanities or social sciences discipline with college-level teaching experience.
Preferred Requirements: A Ph.D. in a humanities or social sciences discipline is preferred.
