Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Staff Assistant to work in the Central Office located in Trenton, New Jersey. Under the direction of the Statewide Medical Director, the Staff Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative support and coordinating the planning for the movement of inmates to receive appropriate medical care.
Assists with long and short range planning for specialty health care services for inmates.
Responsible for the operational functions of the transfer process for medical services, the prioritization of responses to problems relating to transfers and providing resolutions, where applicable.
Responsible for the processing of all files for transfer of inmates within the New Jersey Department of Corrections (NJDOC) system.
Coordinates efforts needed for patients requiring movement to another site for the purpose of meeting specific health care needs.
Provides direction to on-site staff regarding program and health care expectations and guidance to ensure continuity of care and quality outcomes.
Maintains daily hospital report for tracking and trending outcomes, working closely with the UM Nurses/Discharge Planner and reports data to the Quality Improvement Director and Statewide Medical Director.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts, Public or Business Administration, the Social Sciences or a related field, plus one (1) year of professional level experience in a business office, government agency, or university setting.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent writing, and organizational skills, a must.
Computer and word processing skills are essential, specifically with Microsoft Word for Windows, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel.
Must possess own vehicle or have alternative means of transportation.
Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements.
