Farmingdale State College invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Architecture and Construction Management Department with a specialization in construction management. The successful candidate will develop and deliver courses, primarily at the undergraduate level, in construction management topics including: construction project management, advanced project planning and scheduling, quantity surveying and costing (estimating), OSHA, construction management accounting and financial principles, and construction management capstone project. Expectations of service include participation in student advisement, recruitment and other department activities. The candidate is also expected to engage with constituents involved in construction management in the region, and to conduct applied research leading to publications. The normal teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester.
The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills and must be committed to the continuous improvement process and the outcome-based assessment of the program to maintain specialized accreditation. Teaching assignments will include both day and evening classes. The Architecture and Construction Management Department offers ETAC/ABET accredited Bachelor of Science degree programs in Construction Management Engineering Technology and Architectural Engineering Technology. In addition, the department will launch a Bachelor of Science program in Civil (Engineering) Technology in the Fall of 2020.
All faculty members at Farmingdale State College have three workload components: teaching, research and scholarly activity, and service. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching. Candidates should have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty resulting in peer-reviewed publications and presentation, both of which are necessary for promotion and tenure at Farmingdale State College. The service component of the workload includes student advisement as well as active participation on departmental, school and college-wide committees.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
NAAB Master of Architecture or NAAB professional degree with second (MS or Ph.D.) degree in architecture, construction or closely related field and an Architectural Registration (RA) license or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification OR
A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an earned PhD in construction management and a Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification.
Construction management industry experience.
Excellent communication skills.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Teaching experience and a potential for scholarship.
This is a full-time, 10 month faculty position.
