Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)
Salary: $48,201 plus, depending on experience
This position provides direct assistance to the Chairperson of the Department of Economics, the Director of Graduate Studies, and the Director of Undergraduate Studies in all administrative functions of the department, including but not limited to:
Budget preparation and management of accounts
Space allocation and record keeping
Course scheduling and course building
Scheduling of graduate and undergraduate TA assignments
Providing assistance with undergraduate student advising and registration, including schedule planning, maintenance of advising forms, overseeing of the declaration of major process, coordination of student events and student surveys, and problem solving
Help support undergraduate students interested in 4+1 program with technical problems
Answer general question for students interested in 4+1 program
Training, supervision, and coordination of secretarial staff and work-study students
Help organize events
General office management, business and marketing initiatives
Attend departmental meetings and help keep minutes and assist Chairperson in meetings with faculty and administrators as needed
Advise the Chairperson and the Directors as needed
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of administrative experience
Effective written and oral communication skills, including note taking skills
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Excellent computer skills and a willingness to become adept in new university software packages and procedures
The ability to work independently with a high level of initiative
The ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality regarding all matters relating to the department, the college, and the university
Experience with budgets
