Position Summary: The UCPath Program is a groundbreaking program to implement a single payroll, benefits, HR and academic personnel solution for all UC employees, centralize certain HR/APO and payroll transaction process within the UCPath shared service center, and standardize/streamline payroll, HR, and benefits processes across the UC System. The program successfully deployed UCPath to UC's Office of the President in late 2015. The remaining locations, including 10 campuses and 5 medical centers, will be implemented in 3 waves over the next 24+ months. The next deployment, described as the Pilot Campus Deployment, is currently underway. Two subsequent campus deployments will complete the program. The Program Director is a key member of the program management team. Collaborating with campus project teams, project governance committees, and the central project team, the Program Director will be responsible for planning and executing the solution rollout to Deployment 2 and Deployment 3 locations. We are looking for someone with extensive experience managing an Information technology organization or complex business transformation programs; advanced relationship building, strategic thinking, and political acumen skills; experienced in leading change management activities and managing their impact across multiple organizations across division, college or institutional boundaries; and comprehensive knowledge of subject area and broad knowledge of all IT areas sufficient for strategic planning, technology assessment and direction. Duty 1: Collaborate with campus and local leadership to develop implementation strategies, timelines, and project plans that support the most efficient implementation of the UCPath solution. Function:Strategic Planning Percent: 35
Duty 2: Provide guidance and direction for achievement of objectives; overseeing through subordinate managers the completion of system development, data conversion, process design, and change management activities required to successfully implement the UCPath solution. Directly oversee completion of critical and complex assignments requiring working knowledge of key business principles and practices. Function:Operational Guidance and Direction Percent: 40
Duty 3: Ensure senior management and program governance committees are informed on program status, controversial situations, and customer negotiations that may impact the program costs or timelines. Function:Governance Program Management Support Percent: 10
Duty 10: Ensure adherence to project budget by enforcing project financial controls and ensuring staffing and financial forecasts are updated to reflect realized and anticipated costs. Function:Budget and Financial Controls Percent: 15
Job Requirements Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Typically 10 years or more of experience managing an Information technology organization or complex business transformation programs.
Advanced relationship building, strategic thinking, and political acumen skills.
Knowledge of the organizational environment of higher education and large research universities to understand campus priorities, issues, motivations, and constraints.
Ability to influence the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others involving project work and initiatives.
Experienced in leading change management activities and managing their impact across multiple organizations across division, college or institutional boundaries.
Demonstrated leadership experience in an executive position.
Comprehensive knowledge of subject area and broad knowledge of all IT areas sufficient for strategic planning, technology assessment and direction.
Thorough knowledge of technical concepts and basic operating principles of data communications, computer hardware, vendor IT products, and software.
Demonstrated experience with senior management planning and budgeting.
Ability to understand the process involved to adapt, integrate, and modify existing programs or vendor-supplied products for use within a large and complex technical environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present technical topics to large groups and senior management with potentially varied levels of technical sophistication.
Knowledge of policies and procedures and ability to determine a course of action based on these guidelines.
Thorough knowledge of supervisory and leadership techniques in managing consulting services and/or technical staff. Required
